Growing Colt

December Colt

PreviousNext

Jet had such a thick winter coat that his body heat couldn't get through it to melt the snow on his back like it did on the other horses.  So he just walked around looking like a skunk most of the winter.  This meant that the freezing rain didn't penetrate it either, so he would stand out in it while the other horses were inside, and as a result would grow a lovely suit of armor made out of solid ice.  But he was never cold.  Not long after this, I took Easter away so Jet could be weaned.  He never even missed her--ungrateful little twirp.
